Letter from the Priest in Charge and Parish Notices – 25 June 2017

Dear All,

This parish has just embarked on a very busy time in its life.

On Monday a group of parishioners attended the Respectful Conversations with S. Saviour’s, in Sydenham. There was a given format, all those who attended were divided into groups of four, and each person was given an opportunity to answer a set of three questions, as well as listening to pre-recorded interviews. There was plenty of time for reflection and prayer. No one was there to change minds, but it was a chance to develop an understanding of those who come from a very different theological viewpoint. The evening was very thought-provoking.

I am happy also to announce that Bishop Victoria will, on 2 July, be with us as one gathered community, school and parish, to celebrate Founders’ Day. However, perhaps more exciting than that, she will also bless the Old Stone Building, returning it to its rightful place in the centre of S. Michael’s. The Bosendorf piano will also be dedicated, with members of the family who donated it present at that service.

The following Sunday, 9 July, Lynnette Lightfoot, the Archdeacon for Central Christchurch, will come and begin the consultation process for the appointment of the Vicar of S. Michael and All Angels. This will follow the 10:00 am Mass, with a light lunch provided. Please do put this date in your diary.

These events have been, are and will continue to be important moments in the life of this Church and I ask that you hold the parish and these events in your prayers.

Teach us, dear Lord, to number our days;

that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Oh, satisfy us early with thy mercy,

that we may rejoice and be glad all of our days.

And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us;

and establish thou the work of our hands.

And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us;

and establish thou the work of our hands, dear Lord.

The Reverend Anne Price
